Making a Grace start

Early childhood is a time of great discovery, learning and growth. Educators play a vital role in the development of our children at this time.

Every child is different – what motivates or engages one child, can be different for another.

Understanding how to stimulate a child’s imagination and how to increase learning through play are just some of the skills Grace Evans has learnt studying for her Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies. Grace is one of 10 Mission Australia early childhood educators to study for her degree, thanks to a scholarship from the Origin Foundation.

“I was highly motivated to do my very best because the Origin Foundation had given me this great opportunity,” said Grace, who studied online through University of New England.

The degree helped Grace develop in-depth knowledge about early childhood development. She is now designing new experiences for the children in her care and sharing her knowledge with colleagues at Mission Australia’s Early Learning Centre at Bateau Bay.

Since 2009 Mission Australia has been a trusted early learning child care provider, with the belief that a love of learning is one of the greatest gifts you can give a child.

For Grace the degree will also open doors and help her to achieve her goal to become a Centre Director one day.
